Die fleissige Illustratorin A. Weinhold (zuletzt "Kinder dieser Welt") hat hier auch den Text geliefert. Wie in "Am Meer" aus der "Wieso?Weshalb?Warum"-Junior-Reihe von Andrea Erne geht es auch hier (nur) an und um die Nordsee. Ebbe und Flut, Wellen, Watt und Meeresboden werden in gewohnt genauen Zeichnungen und kindgerechtem Text erklärt. Die Frage "Wie kommt das Salz ins Meer?" wird ebenso erläutert wie die Entstehung von Dünen, Inseln und Hochwasser. Hauptdarsteller aber sind die Tiere: Ob Wattvogel, Schnecken, Muscheln, Fische oder Seehunde - alle sind liebevoll und treffend illustriert und beschrieben. Neben den vielen Sachinformationen - wie immer auch in den Klappen - gibt es genügend lustige Situationen, die für Abwechslung sorgen.
