"Ein Atlas ist ein Buch mit vielen Landkarten", so beginnt das bewährte Autoren/Illustratoren-Team (zuletzt "Der Marienkäfer", BA 4/07) seine Reise um die Welt und zeigt jeweils eine attraktiv gestaltete Landkarte und auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite genauere Angaben. Deutschland und den Alpenländern sind je eine Doppelseite gewidmet, auch Asien bekommt 2 Doppelseiten, die übrigen Kontinente müssen sich da bescheiden. Geografie, Biologie, Klima, Bauwerke, Besonderheiten, auch Religionen und - knapp, aber ganz aktuell - Konflikte in West- und Nordasien. Das mag Vorschulkinder zum Teil überfordern, fordert aber zum Dialog in Bibliotheken und Kindergärten heraus. Die typischen 3W-Klappen vermitteln zusätzlich Informationen und Spaß. Im abschließenden Spiel kann das erworbene Wissen erprobt werden. Das Weltkarten-Poster samt der Abbildungen aller Länderflaggen von A-Z kann - wie die zugehörigen Sticker - leicht herausgetrennt werden.
